Prom Flowers available for the whole of the UK

Welcome to About Flowers blog page, dedicated to the design of prom flowers from corsages for the ladies to buttonholes for the guys....

You have spent a lot of time on the dress design, now compliment it with a stunning corsage that will be matched perfectly, down to the ribbons and accessories.

Our stateside friends really champion the wrist corsage, and they invented prom - so it would be rude not to...... wouldn't it??

These designs can be made in fresh for the local area - Widnes, Warrington, Runcorn, St Helens and South Liverpool. Or, we can do them in silk and are happy to post them out to anyone in the UK.

New Year - New Proms...

The Prom Fayre - Hillcrest Hotel - Widnes
Thursday January 24th 2013
6pm - 8.30pm

Prom is massive, I think we can all agree.  It is becoming a bigger event each and every year.  So, because we like to think of ourselves as forward thinking, we have decided to initiate Widnes and Runcorn's first Prom Fayre.

It will be held in none other than The Hillcrest Hotel, one of Widnes finest venues.

And, the one and only Love Frocks will be doing a fabulous cat walk.

If you are attending a prom, or are the parent of a prom goer, you will be able to cater for all your prom needs under one roof.  From a dress, to flowers, to make up and hair designs, to photographer to suits etc...

Just a few of the stalls attending are;-

Cakes by Kerry, CK2 Hair and Beauty, Gallery Studios, The Print Concierge... more names to follow very soon.

And, if you are a provider of prom products, there are still a few stalls available for the right business.

So, please pass on the good news, tell your friends, your family and anyone else who will listen.  This is going to be the event not to miss!!

So, we hope to see you there, but until then, spread the prom love...

She wore yellow......

Are you "feeling" yellow?

Lemons are yellows are such fresh colours.  Yellow makes me happy and lifts my spirit.  Does it have an effect on you?  Or, even more important are you wearing yellow or lemon at Prom?

The colour yellow is associated with intellect, freshness and joy, inparticular in flowers, the rose represents friendship and not romance like other roses.  Yellow can build self confidence and encourage optimism.  All in all, it offers a myriad of positive feelings and can focus the mind to think clearly and help make positive decisions.

This simple spray carnation corsage below is enhanced by a mixture of sheer and textured ribbons.  A soft approach to compliment any dress and would offer a very pretty image overall.

This single cymbidium orchid is backed by a funky wire and has more green than yellow colour in it.  By contrast, the mixtures of blue ribbon offer a softer accessory and makes this design a truly unique one.

What can I say about this, wild..... simply wild.

Spray roses and peals are just perfect for this soft and elegant yellow corsage. To be worn on the wrist, this design will life any lemon dress or perhaps give complete impact to a little black number.

The calla lily in this buttonhole is accessorised with a gold wire.  How would your date like to match you and stand out from the crowd...

WOW, if you want to go really different, why not have a funky corsage attached to your shoes.  This delicate flower should, in theory, not make a statement but WOW, just WOW!!

This Gerbera needs no explanation, funky and fun to the bitter end, this design will offer impact on a loud but simple scale.

So, I hope you have found some inspiration from this blog and the pictures included in it, which remember are not ours.  All images have been kindly given to me by Tracey at Yerringtons in Nevada.  If I am going to take design advice off anyone on Prom, it is going to be off one of the best.

So, as usual, I wish you the best of times designing your prom look.... give us a call if you are feeling yellow this prom season.

Pink brings out the femine side of us all....

Textures, Colours and Prom

How I love sheer and satin ribbon, the two textures together combined with fresh blooms give such a feminine feel that is only matched by the compliments that the softness of a pearl corsage bracelet gives.  Visual interest is often gained by using several textures and shapes.  A wrist corsage can help to soften an outfit giving a more fluent overall look.

Nevertheless, in this blog, the colour is the major factor.  Associated with all things feminine, pink is a quiet soft colour.  Offering both acceptance and contentment, Pink can also settle an agressive environment.

So, if you like pink, you will love some of these pictures.

Enjoy the pinkness.... Paula xx

Feeling Blue???

The colour of the sky and the ocean, blue is the colour of inspiration and sincerity.  A blue iris suggests that friendship is important to you.  Turquoise on the other hand, has a soothing affect and is the symbol of youth.

Blue can give a feeling of peace....

So, are you blue??

If you are, you maybe interested in a couple of these pics that should inspire your creative mind...

Enjoy, and next time you are feeling blue, come and see us at About Flowers.....

When you think about Prom, think "About Flowers".

When you think about Prom....think "About Flowers"....

I have so neglected this blog, but you will be pleased to know that I have made extra efforts to get you some good..... no....great images to get inspiration from.

I have the greatest florist friend, who is based in Yerrington, Nevada.  (That is not far from Las Vegas for us UK guys.)  Anyway, Tracey or Twigs as we fondly call her, very kindly sent me a disc with all of these images on to show our UK girls.  How nice is that???

She is famous throughout our florist network and has her own blog that you may find very inspiring.  She is the prom queen as far as I am concerned.  http://promflowers.blogspot.co.uk/

Anyway, onto the new pics that I am really excited about.  Just a few for now.  If you have any questions on any of these, just email me on info@about-flowers.co.uk or go over to our facebook page and ask me there...  http://www.facebook.com/#!/AboutFlowersWidnes

There are various ways in which you can wear a flower corsage and this initial blog is just to show you different aspects, even more to come in the next couple of weeks.

The shoulder corsage.

The wrist corsage, above with Roses and below with Orchids.

The waist corsage, shown here with Gerbera, Mini Roses and Hypericum Berries.  Accented with sheer ribbon which I personally adore.

Corsages can be matched almost perfectly to your dress, and we promise not to make two the same for the same school.

Anyway, enjoy your prom shopping....... get over to pintrest and start collecting your ideas.

Oh and for your information, we do prom corsages in both silk and fresh which means we can post these out to anywhere in the UK.  We design fresh prom corsages for Widnes, Runcorn, Warrington, St Helens and Liverpool.  Come and see us, if you like, give us a ring first to make sure I am in (I love to talk prom)....

You get one prom, enjoy it!!

Lots of love Paula xx

Prom Flowers for the Widnes Teens...

Well, to sum up this week, prom prom and more prom.....  At last, our girls decided that their outfit would not be complete without a bespoke floral wrist corsage adorned with diamante and crystal detail.

It was lovely to see all the mums excited, girls planning their hair and make up, telling us all about their dress and basically letting us join in on the excitement.

This is new to us, so thanks for letting us get involved.

I have been promised "on their lives" that they will send us pictures of the full thing but until then, here are some pictures of this weeks work.
